The recording coincides with the release of the book 'Imogen Holst - A Life in Music', a unique study of her output edited by Christopher Grogan, including her diaries written when she was working as Britten's amanuensis in Aldeburgh. Around these writings is woven a biographical narrative by Rosamund Strode. The volume also includes an essay on her musical style, as well as a complete catalogue of her music by Christopher Tinker.
